Principal's Message

We started the New Year with lots of wild weather and a busy season in sports.  Soccer, wrestling, basketball, are in full swing and our athletes are giving their best.  I have always been a big fan of high school athletics, because I believe activities such as sports, music, and clubs keep students connected to their school and their communities.  If you have a chance in the next few weeks, encourage your child to get involved.  We have wonderful programs here, and students who are involved in activities do better in school.
You will receive your child’s report card by February 16th.  If you haven’t, please call the school, or come in to get a copy.  When you get the report card, sit down with your child and talk about it. If there are any failing grades, find out why and do your best to correct it.  A grade of “F” means that the student has to repeat the class.  If there are any grades of “D,” be aware that while this is passing, it is barely passing.  For students who want to attend a four-year college, a “D” is the same as an “F.”  The four-year colleges only accept grades of “C” or better.
If your child has all grades of “A,” “B,” and “C,” praise, encourage, and tell him or her to keep up the good work.  Look for an Honor Roll Certificate if your child has a 3.0 grade point average or better. Thanks from the school to you for all you do for your students.  We know that parenting is a very hard job, and we appreciate you.
