SIERRA VISTA GIRLS' SOCCER WIN CIF CHAMPIONSHIP

Principal's Message

The year is flying by!  March is the month that brings us several spring sports.  Students will be participating in track, swimming, badminton, tennis, softball, baseball and volleyball.  But we still haven’t quite finished with SOCCER, as our girls’ team goes to finals for the first time in Sierra Vista High School’s history!  It’s a very big deal and they are to be congratulated.   All of our winter teams did well, and our wrestler, Jose Maldonado, became a CIF champion.  In addition to these achievements, our girls’ basketball team and our wrestling team both won league championships undefeated, and our boys’ soccer team won a league championship.  It is thanks to hardworking students, smart and dedicated coaches, and loving supportive parents that our students can accomplish these things.

March is also the month for Open House, and we hope all of you will join us to meet your children’s teachers, see our great programs, and check out some of the great work your children have done.

Please continue to watch your child’s progress.  Be sure to check his grades on the computer, look at his homework, and talk to him about school.  It is hard work, but it will pay off.  We recently awarded honor roll certificates to our students who achieved a 3.0 grade point average or better.  We handed out 808 certificates; that means 41% of our students made the honor roll.  I am SO proud of that, but still, I’m hoping for an even bigger number next time.

I’d like to thank you for all you do for your child and our school.  Please call us if you need help with anything.

- Jackie White
