Second semester is well under way, and our Senior Class of 2012 is feeling excited and a little distracted. If you are the parent of a senior student, please stay focused on keeping that student on track with homework, attendance, and achievement. Seniors should be working on the portfolio and service-hours part of the senior project. They should be very busy right now!
All of our 9th, 10th and 11th grade students should be very busy. If they had low graded in any subject, they should be doing lots of hard work to catch up on skills and improve those grades. Remember we have tutoring in every subject Mondays through Thursdays after school; our library and computer lab is open from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday, and we have our new math assistance center open Mondays through Thursdays. There is no excuse for students to miss assignments or fall behind.
Our 10th grade students have a very important task in March. They will take the CAHSEE test on March 13th and 14th. This test must be passed before students can graduate from high school, and this is their first chance to do an excellent job! It’s a great idea to tell your children to attend tutoring every day from now until the test to brush up on those skills.
Students and staff have three Mondays off in February. February 6th is a furlough day, and February 13th and 20th are President Day Holidays. I hope you enjoy your time with your children. In addition, we have had a recent change in the school calendar. Graduation day is now June 1st. You will receive an information letter sometime in February.
