In our business, this is “crunch time,” and with the extra long school year, students still have time to increase their performance.  If your child is failing any classes, contact his or her teachers to learn if there is work he or she can complete to improve the grade.  Remind your child that the class will have to be repeated if it is failed.
This is a good time to have students stay at home and check in with you that the homework is finished.  Make sure they know your priority is a good education.  Students who get good grades should be praised.  Students who fail because they haven’t tried should receive some consequences.  It is so easy to fall behind; encourage your child to catch up.
For all of the parents whose children are leaving us on Graduation Day, June 23, thank you for your love and support.  You help to make Sierra Vista High School a wonderful place to learn and work.  We’ll see you at the ceremony.  Remember that it gets very crowded, and that we do not allow strollers, balloons, umbrellas or noise makers.  The ceremony is a happy one, but also a very serious one.
