Attendance |
- Attendance will be taken on BOTH the Class List and the Attendance Roster. Both the Class List and the Attendance Roster are official documents and they must be signed in pen weekly. All attendance documents will be turned in at the close of summer school.
- A student is allowed two full period absences or four half-period absences before he/she is dropped. Keep an accurate record of absences and report them to the office on the Enrollment and Attendance form.
- Students will be dropped by the office staff when the student reaches 2 ½ absences or at the 8th tardy. No exceptions or changes.
- Only the office can drop a student. If you think a student has been absent more than two days, notify the office so we can check the computer and then the proper steps will be taken: teacher, student and parent notification. Do NOT just tell a student to stop coming. This has caused many problems in the past. Only the office can officially drop a student.
- Do not accept new students into your class unless someone in counseling has initialed a program.
- Everyone is to use the same symbols when marking attendance on your class roll sheets. Follow the Attendance Codes chart on page 8.
- Three tardies will equal one full period absence. Reminder, tardies after the stretch break are not counted into the three tardy rule.
- Attendance is accounted in “actual” terms. If a student is present for part of an “hour,” he/she is considered to be present for the full hour. Or, in other words, if a student is not absent for the entire “hour,” he/she is considered present the entire “hour.”
- Please mark all non-present students as absent, even on the first day. Summer School is unique so even no-shows are considered absent.
