Principal's Message

Welcome to the best high school in California. There is no greater time than the present to maximize our goals specified in our schools mission statement:

Sierra Vista High School provides a 21st Century education that emphasizes critical thinking, communication, and respect for diversity, in a safe and positive environment, supported by collaborative community involvement, in order to create successful college prepared and career ready citizens.’

This past year SVHS successfully made gains in graduation (441 students) while ensuring the highest attendance rate (97%) among all high schools in BPUSD. Our departments are working hard in their PLC’s to develop common assessments and address essential standards. We will continue to press forward in preparing our students to be ready for the 21st century challenges that await them in college or career path.

Quality intervention and instruction are of the utmost importance to meeting our goals set forth in our mission statement.

We are making steady progress in student performance areas.

Improving our instruction and assessments practices thru standards based curriculum as specified in WASC self-study
our Athletic committee has identified key areas in athletics to bring about equity for all sports and will continue to create more athletic options

Our district is deepening its community support in an effort to meet the goals of “ensuring high achievement for ALL learners.” We support our district vision and desire to see our students fulfilling their academic goals. This year we are asking all students to take full advantage of all the wonderful and exciting opportunities here with athletics, clubs, tutoring, while continuing to build a collaborative relationship with their teachers. “Ask questions when you don’t understand and seek help to prevent from falling behind.

This year the expectation is high for all of us here at Sierra Vista. Remember that school is fun and let us continue to make learning fun, rigorous, encouraging and providing our students the very best high school experience.

Sincerely,

Vincent Pratt

Principal
