COURSE OUTLINE

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

            Architectural Design II class is designed to provide students with the knowledge and understanding of architectural graphic standards with the use of computer software programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Inventor. This course will help students learn the skills and concepts necessary for planning, drawing, designing, and developing architectural projects.

Its mission is to teach students how to prepare architectural drawings that will effectively and accurately communicate design ideas to clients, contractors, and manufacturing personnel. Students will use problem solving techniques to produce basic and complex drawings that reflect an understanding of architectural working drawings. Students will complete all projects with the use of CAD, BIM software, and traditional board drafting.

First Semester

Second Semester

Project #2:   ADU Project - Program TBD

Project #3:   Residential Project I (One story)

Project #4:   Residential Project II (Two story) 

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES/STANDARDS:

In order to pass this course, students will be expected to:

- Be in attendance for 94% of class meetings. As a laboratory course, attendance is necessary to gain the knowledge and skills needed for an appropriate understanding of Drafting and Design.

- Achieve a cumulative grade point average of 70% or higher in this course.

- Complete the following performance standards:

  1. Complete all assigned open response, performance events, and presentations.
  2. Actively participate in problem solving and group activities.
  3. Keep an acceptable Drafting Portfolio with divers for project notes, handouts, conceptual sketches, and final prints of projects. Portfolio will be graded at the end of each SCHOOL REPORT CARD PERIOD!

 

GRADING:

Weekly Grade (accumulated work): 20 pts. per week = 360 points /semester.

Portfolio Checks (6, 12, & 18 week):

Final Project = 50 points

 

Grading Chart based on Technology Department Standards.

A= 90-100%

B= 80- 89%

C= 70- 79%

D= 60- 69%

F= below 59%

 

CLASSROOM AND LAB RULES:

All students are expected to conduct themselves in a business-like manner.

  1. Respect others around you, the classroom equipment, and computers.
  2. Be on time, this means be in your assigned seat before the bell rings.
  3. Remain quiet until all announcements are made and attendance has been taken.
  4. All assignments turned in must have your name, date, and assignment on them.
  5. Be prepared, bring all classroom materials with you.
  6. Obey all school-wide rules as outlined in the Sierra Vista High School Handbook.
  7. No cellular phones or any electronic devices may be in view of any classmate or the instructor unless a specific project requires the use of this devise, per instructor’s permission.

  4. Parent Phone Conference
  5. Referral to Discipline Office

 

Make-up Work:

It is your responsibility to ask for missed assignments when returning to school.

 

CONFERENCES:

The teacher is available for conferences with parents and/or students between 8:30am-9:21am
