  Welcome to Your Spanish Class 

 

 I. You must sign up for your google classroom. This is the place where you would see any announcements for the entire class. Use the list below to identify the code you need to sign up.

II. ALL WORK FOR CREDIT SHOULD BE DONE ON THE VHL SUPERSITE.

Follow the following instructions to enroll in your class period.

                               

Vista Higher Learning Supersite VHL. Here you will do exercises, quizzes, and tests. The work you do here will be counted towards your grade.  The exercises, quizzes, and tests correspond with the lessons presented in class. 

 

THE FOLLOWING IS THE INSTRUCTION ON HOW TO ACCESS VISTA HIGHER LEARNING (VHL) VIA THE WEBSITE:    http://vhlcentral.com 

 

You need to open an account there. Go to the site, register for the right school---Sierra Vista High School, Baldwin Park, CA; create a username and password, just follow the instructions. Once you are in the Supersite, scroll down and find the book cover for your Spanish class (-----). click on it, you should be there. There you will find a calendar letting you know what needs to be done for the week.  I will be giving a few assignments at least once a week. 

 

 

ALL WORK FOR CREDIT SHOULD BE DONE ON THE VHL SUPERSITE.

Syllabus Spanish I 

2023 - 2024

OBJECTIVE: This is the first year of an academic oriented program for students who do not speak Spanish or know very little Spanish. The objective of this class is the development of the students’ writing, speaking, listening, and reading skills of the Spanish language. This course will focus heavily on grammar and vocabulary. In order to pass this course, the student will have to study and do the assigned work. Do not expect to get a good grade if you already speak Spanish. The class will be conducted in English and Spanish.

 

TEXTBOOK:  To be announced shortly

 

MATERIALS: Students should bring to class the following materials every day: a notebook, pens or sharpen pencils to take notes, if you see the need for it, and textbooks. NOTE: you will not be asked to use your chromebooks in class every day. 

 

ONLINE SITE:

We will be making use of Vista Higher Learning Supersite VHL. Here you will do exercises, quizzes, and tests. The work you do here will be counted towards your grade. The exercises, quizzes, and tests correspond with the lessons presented in class.

 

CLASSROOM RULES

· Respect yourself and others AND act accordingly. 

· Do weekly assigned work at the Vista Higher Learning website. Grades will be posted weekly.

· Be ready to participate when you get called on. Your participation will be part of your grade.

* No cell phone use allow in class.

 

CONSEQUENCES

· First violation: Student will be warned that he is not abiding by classroom rules.

· Second Violation: Teacher will have a short conference to determine how student can be helped to follow the rule and meet expectations.

· Third violation: Teacher will contact parent.

· Fourth violation: Student will be referred to the Dean of students/Administrator/Assistant Principal

 

GRADING SCALE

90 to 100= A 80 to 89= B 70 to 79=C 60 to 69=D below 60= F

· Class work/ homework = 20%

· Quizzes = 20%

· Participation = 20%

· Chapter tests = 30%

Syllabus Native Spanish III

2023 - 2024

OBJECTIVE: This is the third year of an academic oriented program for students who speak, read, and write Spanish. The objective of this class is to maintain and enhance those skills at the native speaker's level.  This course will focus heavily on grammar and vocabulary. By having this focus, students will be prepared to advance to the AP level or similar level of language here at SVHS. In order to pass this course, the student will have to study and do the assigned work. Do not expect to get a good grade by assuming that since you already speak Spanish this will be an easy class. The class will be conducted in Spanish.
