hello welcome to back to school night differences between Hallelujah classroom desk red so I posted that announcement everywhere my website that we're looking at and each course has its own set of information about it digital access remotely working through Google Classroom if we if we need to go to anything it will either link through Google classroom with one exception in Centex pause and I'll talk about that when we get to that information for physics so this is where they found what they needed to get where they're going topics in information in the course info we have the topics the materials they need the academic policies in the grading policy so quickly so both courses are a through G courses which means that there are certain requirements that we have to meet to keep that designation in terms of how many Labs we do how much riding the students do how much work they do completely independent of me on their own and how I deal with the temptation to copy if they can if they want us to work they can split the points so if they turn in a perfect two perfectly identical assignments everything's right that used to have two point I want to share with the internet as many points are earned whatever is clearly cut and paste from the I do use software to monitor that a lot lot of things will go out and check I can often tell and so they will share their point with the internet what they need in terms of information is in the resources that I give them or send them to specifically on the internet they do have a notebook I'll talk about that assignment if it's distance Loring but it isn't important collection of their work that is academic honesty I didn't put my return button on there the other thing I want to talk about where we're still on this part is the gravy manicotti crepes my website does not want to work I will figure out why that's not working so there's a couple of late work right now but I will accept late work all the way through now I will be pestering students to turn in things from like Week 1 and they're already getting me to pester them is like what is keeping you from doing math we need to talk about this I do give every return in a due date so it goes on the classroom calendar and it goes on the students to do list the way I sent the due date is I give a 24-hour Grace. After when I sync should be done with the assignment based on how much time I think it should take to cover the assignment and where we say things in the past chasing this year is Barry flexible adjustable there is nothing carved in stone I'm adjusting things as we go as I learn about okay how much time does it take to do this digitally instead of on paper those kinds of things are constantly being adjusted with the pacing so I'm deliberately giving a 24-hour window of extra time on every assignment before it's due because Life as we know it is not normal right now things happen they just have and why they are again Hamilton grave differently than I am the interface between those two programs categories in my Gradebook in their assignments I'm going to send you back here to read that information again codes in the classroom I do not round so if you want to say it has to be 85% not 84.8 got to be that 85 and that's because I have stressed my gray already and I have to make the cut off somewhere so it does need to be an actual 85 or higher to get to be so is the minimum percentage cut off for those brakes and I think that's pretty much it for the grading is how contact me so I have school email this is the best way to reach me whether I'm on campus or at home during the school hours I'm usually open my email up about 7:30 and I'm usually closing my email before I go to bed at night I just leave it open it open for one last is everything off I have a dedicated to number usually the students are texting me from it is through the app called Google Voice it works just like a regular text it you can call it it's listed their 626-502-7269 so that is for Sierra Vista students and parents erase me and communicate with me you can jump into my office hours on Wednesdays between 11:00 and noon as a parent if you would like to this link is a public link any restrictions on who can join it in terms of students or parents so far nobody has a question about something that is one I want to actually talk to me I realize it's only one hour a week in the classroom what's the Smoke Clears up by the end of the speaker will be back on campus Mondays Tuesdays Thursdays and Fridays and broadcasting from there so there's a little bit more lab equipment there's a little bit more space to spread things out demos and things like that for the students broadcasting for my classroom so if I'm not really responding via email and I haven't responded to Google voice and it's a real emergency if I'm there I will do my best to answer the phone how to reach me Grace which are sort of the first big back to school questions and we were have to go over some of the technology and there is a fair amount of technology that I used most of it so I can call the Stream it is for announcements so this is where your student would find the link We modified our bell schedule this week we had forever a lot of things that are just informational announcement supposed to show you how I organize this so it's not license early short so you can kind of see how it's organized their broken down by the weeks the first thing every week is what's going on this weekend calendar for the week has contact has links to my sample notebook what that's look like as we go through eye color told each day so my day has red juices yellow blue purple and I number them in the order they should be done is it something done over multiple days it will have multiple colors on it if it's got a great attached to it I do for the next month so you can see things fairly well organized for students in this consistent throughout the week so you should have received it from point and email asking you to please join the classroom so that you can have as Google sending you updates done by topics neatly organized this replaces the paper spiral installing a long on the left side cuz that's the fast way to go through the slides and we're supposed to keep these videos short things / slide to do we also use edpuzzle for earth science so this is just a quick screenshot so this is a video talking about the phases of the moon and so they got some information you will pass that have a question to answer and then they go on in the video so it's an interactive video software we also use tablet with keyboard This is actually a physics assignment I sent them on a scavenger hunt to find things about the mass of a kilogram we also use the simulation website can you conceive different manipulatives earth science there's only two or three so not so we do more edpuzzle with Earth Science more set with fizz the physics also have a second digital platform that goes with the textbook so your student should have six inch and have a paper bat student workbook answer physics textbook it is literally a workbook not a traditional textbook in the sense that you're going to read and then answer the questions at the end of it is actually right about it there is a digital version of that Google Classroom training that I went to the other day they will need to access it through fastlink and my physics students know how to get into their District class it's a little Smiley orange tomato hear of hmh Ed when they login they're going to see basically a list of assignments that they're not going to see all of these yet they haven't started for the students yet version of the student. just like we're spending way too much time in front of the computer so I'm like okay you want to do this old school paper and pencil and just take pictures of your pages in your workbook turn off your computer and just go work paper and pencil in your work awesome just make sure that you upload the pictures of your pages or if you like the fact that you can do in the electronic you can go to the electronics electronic book if you like that so this is the new piece to the new physics book I'm terrible my students notice I do make videos for them for things that are absolutely necessary so if there's like a PowerPoint that needs narration I will let you know if it's a simulation that collects data I will make a data collection video cuz some of the simulations don't always run the way we expect if I left anything out and I went through things kind of fast please please please contact me quiz questions send me a text with question it would help if you are in the text the first time you
