AVID 10 Period 4

Course Description

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an academic elective course that prepares students for college and career readiness and success, and it is scheduled during the regular school day as a year-long course. Each week, students receive instruction utilizing a rigorous college preparatory curriculum provided by AVID Center, tutor-facilitated study groups, motivational activities, and academic success skills. In AVID, students participate in activities that incorporate strategies focused on Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization and Reading (WICOR) to support their academic and personal growth.

Class Expectations / Management Plan
One of my most important goals as a teacher is to create a positive class learning environment where students can focus, feel relaxed, and be safe in order to maximize their potential. I want ALL students to be successful and know that my classroom is a place where they can explore new ideas, practice new skills, and develop themselves both academically and personally. With that in mind, I have a list of expectations that I hold for all my students and a plan for helping struggling students to redirect themselves to success.
